Completed (Yay)

Hi, I'm Brenda!

My way of exploring NYC as an art girly:
Drawing wherever I go and logging it all in one place.

I found myself dreading the question:
"What are your hobbies?"

Ever since moving to NYC for college, I feel like I have not actually been exploring the city the way I imagined I would.

A lot of weekends started looking the same: staying home, rotting a little, and not really saying yes to random side quests.

So whenever people ask me what I do for fun, I awkwardly laugh and say, "I like working out," and then immediately feel a little guilty after. I wish I had cooler answers. I wish I could say I had hobbies that felt more like me.

Growing up, I was the art kid.

I was constantly drawing, painting, and making things, but somewhere between being a full-time student and working part-time, I stopped.

That honestly scared me a little. I started wondering if I was slowly losing a part of myself, or even losing the skill altogether.

What really clicked for me was watching
The Life List.

The basic idea is that a woman starts checking off an old list of goals and, through that process, reconnects with herself, meets new people, and starts fully living again.

Watching her rediscover parts of herself made me want to make a list of my own.

The Life List

One of the first things on that list was simple:
Go out more. Explore the city. Try new restaurants. Stop spending every weekend at home.

And then I thought, what if I paired that with something I already loved?

So that is what this website is for. It is my little way of getting back into drawing while exploring NYC, bringing my sketchbook with me to places I have been meaning to visit, and documenting it all in one place.
